Wedding (and honeymoon) update: 19 days before

-Went to the florist to confirm flowers and make a deposit. All the flowers I wanted except the daffodils will be available. So my bouquet will be yellow tulips, ranunculus, roses and freesia. I'll also have extra to make boutonnieres, and little arrangements for the reception.

-Was a bit disappointed to find out that the venue rented ugly white resin chairs. But decided not to let my inner bridezilla win and let it go. We'll have round tables and higher bistro tables, both covered with white and aqua tablecloths.

-Could have never, ever imagined we would have bride-and-groom cake toppers, especially since, er, we won't have a cake, but here is what M brought back home the other day:Honey, I absolutely love that you're taking initiative for the wedding, and that you're nothing but a 36 year-old kid. Smurfs it is then. He also bought coasters for votive candles and a pretty guestbook (in all the right colors! I was like, seriously, stop, you're killing me with your greatness right now!) which guests will be able to fill will well-wishes and Polaroids of themselves, thanks to a friend who graciously offered to lend me the camera.

-I ordered mini-cupcakes from this new place, which smelled absolutely heavenly. Lemon with yellow icing, chocolate with aqua icing, and mojito with white icing. The owner won me over when she whipped out her Pantone color chart, and as I started laughing, she admitted that she used to be a graphic designer. My friend Julie will also decorate them and make them absolutely irresistible. Yum!

-I started assembling the Martha Stewart paper pompoms that will adorn the tent. They look awesome, but I realized that I would probably need to rent a truck to carry them there. Four of them take up a huge part of my living room, and we have a total of 14! But all the better, they will make such an impact.

-After a little stress with the photog who had stopped returning my emails, we're OK now. M should finalize the details with him shortly.

-I've made reservations at a little French restaurant in the village nearby, where we'll have dinner after the cocktail reception at the orchard with our families (and the guests who want to come). I haven't even seen the inside of the place and I have no idea of what the food is like (the menu sounds good though: duck, maple-glazed pork, seafood...), but hey, there's little choice (it's either that or the local greasy spoon place) and here's to taking chances!

-And as for our honeymoon, it seems pretty obvious by now we won't be able to go to Mexico after all... The airline will let us change destinations or postpone the vacation (the honeymoon is already a postponed vacation from last year, remember? Will we ever be able to use that credit?) I feel so silly to have said that it wasn't my dream honeymoon. Now that we can't go, I realize it actually was. We're looking into their other destinations right now, and hoping that this epidemic won't get worse within the next few weeks... I was really really looking forward to going there, but what can you do? I am also really look forward to not catching a deadly flu strain and bringing it back home.

cake toppers are hilarious! Too cute!
That stinks about the whole Mexico thing. :(
But cheers to not getting a weird flu! I'm kinda freaked out by it myself. I have a two year old and a four month old so... yeah kinda nervous...

Love the cake toppers! The paper poms poms are adorable. Did they take you a long time?

Thanks! The paper is pre-cut and scored so you know where to fold it. After you've fastened it together, then folded it accordion-styled, you only need to fluff and crinkle each layer of paper apart from one another. It takes maybe 10 minutes per unit. I'm just glad I decided to make them ahead and not waited until an hour before the wedding!

No one (including you) will notice the chairs.

Smurfs! Ha ha!

Mojito cupcakes? WOW.

Hope the honeymoon works out somehow, whenever it has to be... will be keeping fingers crossed for you.
