The half-decade

M and I met in 2002 and became friends, but I was a little slow. It is on this date in 2005 that we trace back the official beginning of our relationship. We went out to lunch together, it was Holy Thursday, right before the long Easter weekend. The weather was gorgeous out, and everyone who knows how difficult winters can be here will relate to the wonderful, special energy literally bouncing off the streets on that first real great day of spring. We took a walk and entered the sprawling campus of McGill University, then simply sat on the outside stairs and kissed. Just like that, I knew my life would never be the same.

I don't ever plan to stop celebrating this date, even if it's just in words and thoughts more than through big presents or grand gestures. Our first wedding anniversary is coming soon in mid-May, but the way I see it, we now simply have two of them!

Happy anniversary honey. We've got a lot done in five years, that's for sure. "The secret to a happy marriage is simple: you only have to choose the right person," I once read. True, that's the easy part; the whole complexity resides in actually finding that person and assessing how you would work together as life partners in the long-term. And even though we're definitely not perfect (is anyone?) and not *always* a match made in heaven, I still never doubted my choice for even a minute. I'm so excited about everything that's coming, about seeing where life will take us.

Ah, happy anniversary!

(There was no way I was ditching our old anniversary once we were married, both are very important!)

Happy Anniversary! My 5 years with Marcus is coming up in July. I think when we get married we will choose the same date so we won't have to remember two dates!

Happy anniversary!!! You definitely should still celebrate this one. It's so meaningful.

We celebrate quite a few...Sept 6th 1986 was the official start of our relationship. August 10, 1996 is our commitment ceremony anniversary and then June 27, 2009 is the day we got legally married in CT. Lastly we chose to get married on Sept 6, 2009, the same date as the official start of our relationship as to not add any more significant dates! :)
