Call it fun research: I've been watching jeans commercial from the '80s for an article. And, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
I can't use videos over there, but I thought I could at least share the joy here. Something that had never occurred to me before in this boob-centric era we're currently experiencing: the eighties were all about the ass, people. It's just... everywhere.

These just MADE MY DAY. Especially the French one.
I'm so glad we survived the 80s. Those jeans are awful, every single pair. At least the ads are hysterical!
I lived in Paris in 1982 and I remember those horrible Lee Cooper jeans everywhere -- and the even more horrible "Jesus" jeans, whose tag line was "Qui m'aime, me suive." ("He who loves me, follows me.")
I had a pair of jeans that hit me a mid-ribcage, with a crease in them, courtesy of Mme. C., my French "grandmother." She refused to let me wear them unpressed!
