That's trash

Displayed in the hallway this morning. I work in a 15 story building with many business of all types, an underground garage for execs and a bicycle parking for green types, as well as a trendy coffee shop/lunch spot on the ground floor (not exclusively frequented by tenants), in short, a tower very similar to hundred others in this city alone -so I can't imagine the tally for the province, country, continent...

All together the people of the building generate 54 tons of waste yearly.
33 tons of recycling.
21 tons of litter.
Among the litter, 25% of material could and should be recycled.

Made me think.

A significant fraction of the trash could also be composted, especially the trash from a cafeteria or from lunch rooms!

I read that not composting is even worse than not recycling. Either way it's terrible. I can't see how anything other than financial penalties will change this.
